James L. Adams, Jr., Senior Vice President, Fuels
Mr. Adams has served as Vice President of Fuels for Panda Energy and Panda Ethanol since 1997. He served as manager of fuels for Panda Energy from 1994 to 1997. From 1991 to 1994, Mr. Adams was a partner with Energy International Consulting Corporation of Houston, Texas where he specialized in gas marketing and transportation issues. From 1989 to 1991, Mr. Adams was vice president of gas supply for Nortech Energy, a subsidiary of Montana Power Company and Northridge Petroleum of Calgary. Mr. Adams helped create Nortech Energy to provide gas marketing and futures trading presence in the Gulf region for the two parent companies. From 1981 to 1989, Mr. Adams was vice president of Louisiana Energy and Development Corporation and its subsidiaries. Mr. Adams received a Bachelor of Science degree from Louisiana Tech.
Russ Bell, Vice President, Accounting
Mr. Bell joined Panda Energy in 1996 and directed the accounting and tax functions of Panda Energy in various capacities until April 2010. He also served as Director of Financial Reporting and Tax of Panda Ethanol from 2006 through 2009. Prior to joining Panda in 1996, Mr. Bell had more than 15 years of experience in public accounting and industry, principally with Deloitte & Touche. Mr. Bell is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting.
John Boswell, Senior Director, Development
John Boswell joined Panda in March 2011, and is responsible for power generation project development activities. Prior to joining Panda, Mr. Boswell spent 18 years in various economic development organizations throughout Texas. Most recently, Mr. Boswell was the president of the Sherman Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) in Sherman, Texas. As president, he was responsible for the recruitment and retention of primary employers in the greater Sherman area. His experience in local communities gives him a unique perspective and understanding of the challenges facing local government. Mr. Boswell holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University.
B Tillman Burnett, P.E., Project Engineer
Tillman Burnett joined Panda in June 2008 and is responsible for development engineering support to the Panda development team. Prior to joining Panda, Mr. Burnett was Project Development Engineer for Duke Energy Generation Services responsible for heat and water balance calculations, power plant performance analysis, cost estimating, and providing cost and technical inputs to financial proformas. Mr. Burnett was Pricing Manager responsible for financial modeling in 2007-2008 at Duke Energy. Prior to his employment at Duke Energy, Mr. Burnett was Senior Project Engineer for CSW Energy (now AEP) engaged in development support of cogeneration power plants and the writing, negotiating, and managing of engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) contracts. Mr. Burnett’s experience includes power plant operating and maintenance budgeting, extensive knowledge of gas turbines and thermodynamic cycles, solar power plant design, gas fired and coal fired power plants, mechanical and electrical equipment, power market research, and environmental air permits. Mr. Burnett has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Engineering degree from Texas A&M University, and a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from the Edwin L Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University.
Stephen D. Campbell, Vice President & Senior Counsel
Mr. Campbell joined Panda in October 1998 and is responsible for legal activities. Prior to joining Panda, Mr. Campbell held various positions in the Legal Departments of ENSERCH Corporation and Enserch Exploration, Inc., for approximately 20 years. Prior to joining ENSERCH Corporation, he served as an Assistant District Attorney for Dallas County. Mr. Campbell received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History (Pre-Law) from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Houston School of Law. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
Yang Chen, Vice President, Finance
Yang Chen joined Panda in 2008, and is responsible for various finance and financial analysis activities. Prior to Panda, he worked for TXU Energy as a finance manager for five years. Before that, he worked for Booz Allen Hamilton as a strategy consultant. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Tongji University. He is also a CFA charter holder.
John Coleman – Sr. Director, Development
John Coleman joined Panda in September 2013 and is responsible for project management of the 829-MW Panda Liberty combined-cycle power project located in Asylum Township, Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Panda, Mr. Coleman was the Construction Engineering Manager for SNC-Lavalin at the Fenix Power 600-MW combined-cycle project in Peru and the 2,000 MW combined-cycle power plant at the EMAL Aluminum Smelter in Abu Dhabi. Prior to his employment at SNC-Lavalin, Mr. Coleman was Deputy Construction Manager for CH2MHill at the Vankor Oilfield Development project — an 800,000 bpd upstream development — in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. Before CH2MHill, Mr. Coleman worked for SNC-Lavalin on the 875-MW Goreway Power Station combined-cycle project, the 765-MW Caledonia combined-cycle project and the 599-MW TPS McAdams combined-cycle project in Mississippi. Mr. Coleman's experience includes natural gas combined- and simple-cycle, upstream oil & gas projects and other industrial projects throughout the United States and internationally where he provided construction management leadership overseeing construction projects for KBR, National Energy Production Company, Western Summit Constructors and VSL. Mr. Coleman holds a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University.
Edmund Daniels, Managing Director – General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer
Mr. Daniels joined Panda in April 2013 as General Counsel responsible for legal matters. Mr. Daniels was also appointed as chief compliance officer in October 2013. Previously, he served as managing director and assistant general counsel at JP Morgan Chase & Co. where he was the general counsel of the Global Commodities Group's Houston office advising the North American Power & Gas Groups and the Commodities Principal Investments Group since 2009. Prior to joining JP Morgan, Mr. Daniels was an assistant general counsel for Mergers & Acquisitions and Power Plant Development at NRG Energy, with lead responsibility for negotiating E.P.C. and developments agreements for NRG's development of new combined-cycle generating facilities in Texas and California. He also advised on the planned expansion of the South Texas Nuclear Project joint venture agreements with Toshiba Corp., leading to co-investment by Toshiba and significant vendor financing by Toshiba in the nuclear development joint venture. Mr. Daniels served as deputy general counsel of Texas Genco LLC (owner and operator of over 11,000 MW of generation assets) from 2005 until its acquisition by NRG Energy in 2006, and remained on with the acquired company as general counsel of NRG's Texas Region. Mr. Daniels received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas Law School in 1993, where he served as articles editor of the Texas Law Review, and received a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service degree cum laude from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in 1990. After law school, Mr. Daniels clerked for the Hon. Melinda Harmon on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and the Hon. Edith Jones on the United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit.
Richard Evans, Sr. Vice President, Engineering & Construction
Mr. Evans joined Panda in February 2007 and is responsible for project development. He initially served as Construction and Engineering Project Director for Panda Ethanol, before transitioning to Panda Energy in February 2008 to fulfill the same role. In October 2008, Mr. Evans moved into development, responsible for bringing projects from early stage development to financial close. Between 2003 and 2007, Mr. Evans worked for Alcoa World Alumina, managing their Global Calciner Lead Team, a division established to ensure best practice transfer globally. From 1985 to 2003, Mr. Evans worked for the Kier Group, one of the UK's largest construction organizations. After managing a number of construction projects in the UK, Mr. Evans transferred to Kier International in 1995 and worked as project manager on two gas-fired power plant projects in Malaysia and India. In 2000, Mr. Evans moved to the United States to lead a joint venture between Kier and CCC Group from San Antonio to develop a business to construct power plants. Mr. Evans received a Bachelor of Science Degree (with honors) in Civil Engineering from the University of Bristol, UK. He also is a Chartered Engineer.
Donald F. Fisher, Vice President, Finance
Mr. Fisher joined Panda in October 2002, and is responsible for various finance and financial analysis activities within the Fund. Project technologies evaluated have included gas and coal fossil fuel, wind, solar, and ethanol. Prior to joining Panda, Mr. Fisher was an asset valuation manager with Entergy Wholesale Operations (EWO) for several years which included development of their wind asset valuation model and evaluating opportunities for their unregulated fossil fuel fleet. Mr. Fisher worked for Central and South West Corporation for the 21 years prior to EWO, first as an engineer with their regulated business and subsequently as a financial analyst with their unregulated business. Mr. Fisher has received a B.S. in mechanical engineering from The Ohio State University and an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Eric Hodges, Director, Commercial Contracts
Eric Hodges joined Panda in May 2012, and is responsible for supervising all commerical matters as they relate to the contracting of engineering and construction services. Prior to joining Panda, Mr. Hodges served as senior contracts manager and contracts manager with several organization such as; KBR, BE&K Construction, Aker Kvaerner, Calpine Corporation and John Brown Construction. His work experience includes: gas-fueled, fossil and nuclear power gerneration, flue-gas desulphurization, liquified natural gas marine terminal and petrochemical installations. Mr. Hodges holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Services and Development from Tarleton State University in Stephenville Texas, which he received in 1994.
Darren Hughes, Director, Commercial Operations
Mr. Hughes joined Panda in August 2012, and is responsible for deal origination, commercial operations and asset optimization activities for the Fund. Prior to joining Panda, Mr. Hughes was Executive Director, Commercial Operations and Origination with Optim Energy (a generation asset ownership subsidiary of Cascade Investments), and lead the organization startup venture and successfully established the business environment for portfolio optimization, risk management and back office activities. Over Mr. Hughes’ energy career with Luminant Energy, Williams Energy Marketing and Trading, and NorAm Energy, he has been responsible for significant and complex business initiatives related to risk management, contract negotiations, structured transaction and asset acquisitions. Mr. Hughes has extensive commercial operations and market expertise covering crude and refined products, NGLs, natural gas and power. Mr. Hughes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Louisiana State University.
Michael Johnson, Director, Construction
Michael Johnson joined Panda in October 2012 and is responsible for management of the project construction function in support of Panda's program of in-progress capital projects and project development activities. Prior to joining Panda, Mr. Johnson was the Construction Manager for S&B Engineers and Constructors at the Progress Energy Hines Complex Power Block III 584-MW combined-cycle project. Prior to his employment at S&B, Mr. Johnson was also a Construction Manager for SNC-Lavalin Thermal Power on the 2,250 MW Panda Gila River combined-cycle project in Arizona and on the 599-MW TPS McAdams combined-cycle project in Mississippi. Mr. Johnson’s experience includes natural gas combined and simple-cycle and other industrial projects throughout the United States where he provided construction management leadership overseeing construction projects for The Industrial Company, National Energy Production Company and Enron. Mr. Johnson received a Certificate in Construction from Canadian Valley Tech.
Blake M. Jones, Associate General Counsel and Senior Compliance Officer
Mr. Jones joined Panda in April 2012, and is responsible for legal and compliance activities for the Funds. Prior to joining Panda, Mr. Jones worked for Deloitte where he advised clients on Governance, Regulatory and Risk Strategies in the Energy & Resources industry. Mr. Jones worked with the global trading entity of a major, integrated oil company and a non-government electric regulatory organization. Prior to joining Deloitte, Blake served in the Project Management Office at Spectra Energy where he led a multi-department regulatory initiative. His experience also includes positions at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Oklahoma Corporation Commission and as an attorney in private practice. Mr. Jones received a Juris Doctor with certificates in Financial Services and Commercial Law and Electronic Commerce, and Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma City University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Washburn University. Mr. Jones is a former Chair of the Energy Bar Association’s Natural Gas Regulation Committee and is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
Matthew R. Kneifl, Director
Mr. Kneifl joined Panda Power Funds in March 2013. Prior to joining Panda, Mr. Kneifl managed the financial, planning and analysis and asset management reporting functions for the North American wind energy operations of Infigen Energy, consisting of 18 wind projects totaling 1,600 megawatts of installed capacity, as well as Infigen Asset Management. Prior to his work with Infigen, Mr. Kneifl was engaged in mergers and acquisitions advisory and the execution of exit/recapitalization strategies for North American clients operating in a range of industry sectors including but not limited to energy, aerospace and defense, healthcare, consulting, technology, and manufacturing. Mr. Kneifl has participated in over thirty completed M&A transactions, both in supporting and lead deal making roles, in addition to performing over a hundred corporate valuations. Mr. Kneifl received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and his MBA from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas.
Darol Lindloff, Executive Director, Development
Mr. Lindloff is responsible for power generation development activities for the Fund. Mr. Lindloff joined Panda Energy in 1989 and since then he has held various executive management positions for business and project development, engineering, construction and asset management. Mr. Lindloff also served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Panda Ethanol from 2006 until 2009. He rejoined Panda Energy in April 2009 and served as head of operations until April 2010. From 2000 until 2006, Mr. Lindloff served in various senior management positions for Panda Energy including as Panda's Chief Operating Officer. From 1997 to 2000, Mr. Lindloff served as President of Panda Energy. Prior to joining Panda in 1989, Mr. Lindloff had more than 25 years of experience in the chemical process, electric power and pollution control industries at organizations such as Hawker Siddley Power Engineering, Central and Southwest Corporation, and Airco Industrial Gases. Mr. Lindloff is a graduate of Southwestern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Organic Chemistry.
Bill Pentak, Vice President, Business Development and Public Affairs
Mr. Pentak was the Director of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations of Panda Energy from August 2007 until April 2010. He served in the same position at Panda Ethanol from 2006 until 2007. He was responsible for managing Panda Energy‘s investor relations and public affairs functions. Prior to joining Panda Ethanol, Mr. Pentak served in the corporate communications and investor relations department of Reliant Energy. He has more than 20 years of public affairs experience. Mr. Pentak received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies from Baylor University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
Derek A. Porter, Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Porter joined Panda in July 2015 and is the Chief Operating Officer focused on asset management, commercial and plant operations. Prior to joining Panda, Mr. Porter spent seven years with the AES Corporation. He was President and CEO of The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L), a regulated utility in west central Ohio. Also during his tenure at AES, Mr. Porter was President of AES Panama, the largest power generator in Panama – generating 35 percent of the country’s power from five hydroelectric plants. While in Panama, Porter led the startup of a 225 MW hydro plant, located in the Bocas del Toro Province. He also led a $100 million redesign, construction and commissioning of a 120 MW hydroelectric plant in Panama after a major tunnel collapse forced the plant offline for 18 months. During his two years in Panama, Porter was responsible for operations, finances, strategic planning, commercial markets and government relations. Porter also served as Director of Business Development in North America for AES, coordinating and leading new developments in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Trinidad. In this role, he led multi-million dollar projects in renewable energy in addition to natural gas, coal, biogas and biomass. As Managing Director for Greenhouse Gas Services – a GE/AES Joint Venture, Porter lead construction and operations of renewable energy projects and managed the purchase of a renewable energy company located in Canada. Previously, Porter worked for Covanta Energy in positions with increasing responsibilities, including Vice President of External Affairs, handling federal and state policy and the company’s advocacy group; Business/Asset Manager for the largest waste energy plant in the U.S.; and Vice President for Environmental Quality Management for 33 plants in the U.S. and facilities located in China and the Philippines. Mr. Porter received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University.
Luc Picard, Senior Director Contracts/ Projects Administrator
Luc Picard joined Panda Energy in 2001 and is responsible for the administration of engineering, procurement and construction contracts awarded for the Panda Power Funds projects. Prior to Panda Power Funds, Luc held various management positions with major corporations such as Gulf Oil, GE and SNC-Lavalin. Luc has more than 30 years of experience in the oil & gas, petrochemicals and power industry. Luc has worked on various energy projects in Canada, New Zealand and many U.S. states. Luc has a B.A. degree in industrial engineering from Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal and an M.B.A. in International Business Management from McGill University.
Rex Sears, Director, Engineering
Rex Sears joined Panda in March 2013 and is responsible for management of the engineering function in support of Panda's program of in-progress capital projects and project development activities. Prior to joining Panda Mr. Sears was employed by Duke Energy for 13 years working within the corporate capital project engineering and construction group rising from senior engineer to project director. Prior to Duke Energy Mr. Sears was employed in the petrochemical manufacturing industry in plant utility operations and project engineering roles consisting of 10 years with Rohm and Haas and 3 years with Equistar Chemicals. As a result, prior to joining Panda, Mr. Sears accumulated 16 years of direct owner engineering and project management execution experience from implementation of 1,700 MW of gas turbine-based cogeneration, combine-cycle and integrated gasification combined-cycle capital projects. Mr. Sears holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston-University Park and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Mr. Sears holds an active E.I.T. certification. Prior to attending college, Mr. Sears served honorably in the Navy Nuclear Power Program as a mechanical operator and completed his service qualified as a chief reactor auxiliary operator and rose to the rate of First Class Petty Officer.
Anuradha Sen, Senior Vice President and Deputy Head of Finance
Ms. Sen joined Panda in 2005 and served in various positions within the finance departments of both Panda Energy and Panda Ethanol including most recently as Senior Vice President, Finance at Panda Energy until April 2010. Prior to joining Panda, Ms. Sen spent several years in the Financial Analysis and Structuring area with Intergen - a Shell/Bechtel Venture, in Boston. Her varied experience also includes foreign exchange trading at both ABN Amro Bank and HDFC Bank in India. She received a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and a Master of Management Studies degree from the University of Bombay, India.
Nicole Wansley, Director, Human Resources
Nicole Wansley joined Panda in August 2013 and is responsible for all Human Resources activities from acquiring and developing talented employees to developing and optimizing HR programs and practices. As an HR Business Leader of more than 17 years, her experience with small, mid-size and Fortune 20 organizations spans several industries with responsibility for all aspects of Human Resources management including employee and organizational development, employee relations, performance management, HR technologies, compensation, payroll management, benefit plan design, talent acquisition, M&A, diversity and compliance programs. Nicole graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA in psychology, and she earned her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) in 2003. She remains active in the HR industry with organizations including SHRM, the Dallas HR Association and the American Society for Training and Development.
Creede Williams, Managing Director, Head of Investor Relations
Mr. Williams joined Panda Power Funds in June 2014 as Vice President of Business Development. Prior to joining Panda, Mr. Williams served as Panda Energy International’s Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary from 2008 through June 2014. Mr. Williams served on the company’s executive team overseeing all legal matters, including litigation, project and corporate finance, governance, M&A activities, divestitures, State and Federal regulatory affairs, securities compliance and investor relations. Mr. Williams joined Panda Energy International from Trilogy Development Fund(TDF) in 2008; where he served as corporate counsel working with all aspects of project development activities, including site selection, zoning, finance, marketing, acquisitions and the use of municipal utility districts, tax increment financing and other economic development incentives.
Mr. Williams earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Letters from The University of Oklahoma (cum laude) and Juris Doctor from The University of Oklahoma, College of Law. He is a member of the State Bar of Oklahoma and the State Bar of Texas. He is admitted to practice before the District Court for the Northern District of Texas and the Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Nicole Wolf, Vice President, Origination
Nicole Wolf joined Panda in January 2013 and is responsible for all origination activities in the East markets which includes PJM, MISO, NEISO, NYISO and SERC. Ms. Wolf has 17 years of experience in the power business marketing physical and financial power. She has marketed and negotiated long- and short-term power contracts to utilities, municipalities, coops, aggregators, industrials, banks and IPPs. Prior to joining Panda, Ms. Wolf held various positions in the wholesale origination groups at NextEra Energy, BP Energy, Sempra Energy & Trading, Duke Energy Trading and Marketing and Tractebel. Ms. Wolf started her career at Enron Capital & Trade Resources where she was in the analyst program. Ms. Wolf graduated from The University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science.
Alison Zimlich, Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Zimlich joined Panda Power Funds in November 2013 as Chief Financial Officer, following a seventeen-year career in the industry with The AES Corporation and its affiliates. While at AES, she served in a variety of accounting, finance, tax and business development roles throughout the organization. Most recently, Ms. Zimlich was the chief financial officer for AES’ North America Generation portfolio, where she oversaw the accounting, financial planning, tax and treasury functions for the division’s twenty-five thermal and wind generation businesses with revenues of approximately $1.5 billion in the United States, Puerto Rico and Mexico. She started her career with Ernst & Young, LLP as a tax consultant, following her graduation from Texas State University at San Marcos with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. She also received a Master of Science degree in Taxation from The American University in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Zimlich is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Global Management Accountant.
